Ever wondered why when you try to open up a camera or lens, the screws strip using a Philips screwdriver? It's mainly because most cameras use JIS screws which when using a JIS standard screwdriver works fine when applying torque but using a Philips screwdriver rounds out the screw. I often see equipment that has been attempted to be repaired but the customer has accidentally stripped the screw making the repair quite difficult and time consuming when removing the stripped screws. For those that do open their own equipment, make sure you have a JIS screwdriver, not a Philips in short. ... See more

Just in case anyone is trying to contact me via phone, I am away until the 8th September and my SIM is not functioning for the most part over here so I am using a local SIM for Internet. As a result my regular number will go straight to voicemail and I will not receive texts until I am back but I do have internet access so send me a message here or to email@example.com and I will get back to you quickly. I generally see the Facebook messages quicker than emails over here as I get a notification so if anyone needs urgent advice in the meantime you know where to get me. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and I hope you all have a great week. Back to repairs and servicing as normal on the 8th. Best Regards, Eoghan. ... See more
